I'm particularly interested in finding quill brushes, old grainy film, decent crack brushes and scratches.

The weather is weird today, it feels like it’s gonna start raining again but like it can’t decide when to. The night before we got woken up to some strong storm over here. It seems that wherever I walk into, I bring rain. I’m awesome like that.
This morning after delaying it for 6 months, I decided to take my blood tests. I went to Red Cross and saw doctors to get the list of tests I’ll take and what did they say to me? It’d take 200 bucks if I had said yes to give blood.
I said bullshit of course. Normally if you take a standard blood test, it doesn’t cost that much but on me? That is actually cheap.
Upon hearing the bill, I refused to take it and headed back to office. I talked to mom and we decided for me to take the same tests at the clinic over our summer house. Since that part of the city is technically a village, tests are free over there. I told my boss about it and he of course let me come late on Monday.
Speaking of job;
a) Yesterday upon leaving the office, big boss looked weirdly at us, especially at me. He had a meeting with a client while I was asking for leave, so I couldn’t read what that look meant.
Today I asked him about it and at first he said nothing was the matter but later on (with my perfect questioning skills) he confessed that he’d like it if we would stay when some other client was in, that he may need something to bring or not. Usually that is not in my job description but our secretary lives so far away that she takes her leave on 6PM strict.
I said of course in reply, it’s not a big deal for me, as long as I get to sit on my laptop. And usually I stay in, but yesterday we had some business to run so we took our cue.
b) Big boss called me in and made me sit down in a very serious tone and face that I got scared for a minute. (I hate those ‘we need to talk’ stuff.) I asked what was going on while he was getting ready for his meeting and he told me that tomorrow there’ll be many tailor-suited man will come up in here from Germany, aimed to sign a deal.
I stared him blank, of course. He told me that he was signing up for a law distribution of that German corporation/organization or something I don’t remember know but what I gathered by that meant ‘money’ in English.
Anyhow, boss told me that he wants me in that meeting tomorrow as his colleague and his translator. He told me that I’ll be one of the actives tomorrow.
This’ll be the first important meeting of mine in this office. I’ve been to client meetings before; I’ve of course been to lawyer meetings too but anything this big? I haven’t been to. I don’t know what will they ask of me or even if my English will be sufficient but I know I’ll try. Luckily I do not freeze when it comes to talking with foreign people. I know I’ll be good on that side of things. So yeah, it’s a kind of relief.
And needless to say, I feel honored to get a pass into this thing. I mean T is there too and he deserves to be there as a lawyer being but no, boss wants ‘me’ in there. \o/ *shameless*

HOLY SHIT, MISHA. I think he just broke the internet.
And I believe he enjoys this attention much more than he shows. And I agree with you Lollo, he was just that kind and sweet man a few months ago and now he acts like a school kid with all of this attention.
I think I need to see his serious self again in order to I don't know, like him better? He pranks with everyone and everyone is happy about it LOL. Maybe they are the crazy fangirls, who knows. I'm not familiar with SPN fandom territory, I was all by myself for all these years but thelake.
I still like Misha and I adore his acting skills but I'm afraid if he can play with those girls who loves him more than necessary. Maybe it's their suitable punishment though LOL.
The thing is, who took the picture lol.
Oh god I'm still amazed. He really asks for it. =)))))))) I have never seen a man like him, he maybe deserves this attention LOL. And it seems he did this as an answer to someove over ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) mishaland lol. He is awesome on many levels. |

I've been waiting
For my dreams to
Turn into something
I could believe in
How can I even attempt to express what this workshop has meant to me thus far? I feel myself becoming a photographer, melting into it, understanding that I belong here, totally ready to embrace it not only as a career, but as a passionate love affair that will get me through the rough points. I kept thinking as time pressed me forward towards this week - what is consistent about my life? What have I always done, who have I always been with few exceptions? I kept feeling insecure about the choice to be a photographer, feeling like other people got me here and I didn't know who I was in it. Sure that I wanted it, but insecure anyway.
The answers I found about myself and who I have always been are probably unsurprising to many who know me, but what surprises me the most is how uniquely qualified I am to be here, to be doing this. I had a lady tell me today that I had a really nice way about me, I set people at ease, that I treat my models as people and she had watched me working and enjoyed it. High praise, and I take it humbly. I feel like I found the last piece of the puzzle here, and now I just need to live in the scene I found there.
I just keep looking at my work from the last two days with uncontrollable slackjaw. I find myself taking photos that are so far from what I normally take and still feeling like they are uniquely mine in so many ways. I belong here. This is me, I am finding myself here among dozens of others, finding that I fit in here like I've never fit in anywhere else. It shocked me. I have never felt like I fit in anywhere, with any group of people, until I came here and felt like I'd found a niche.
So for me this is beautiful

And a brand new world
Our first speaker, Dane Sanders, was inspiring, challenging, and totally radical man who wears mismatched socks. My workshop leader for the week is a vibrant man named Scott Robert Lim (who constantly refers to himself as Chinese and therefore cheap) whose excellent and engaging curriculum has taught me enough skills in two days to upgrade my work the same amount that years of process might have touched on but not perfected. I've been given the tools, the building blocks I needed. Being taught how to pose was the kicker... Scott is hilarious and upbeat, ambitious, and also a very, very good teacher. Invaluable. Someday I'd like to take one of his international intensive workshops...
Today a Nikon rep who is here with a Victoria photo store took it upon himself to teach three of us Nikon shooters how to use our command flash system. I feel like I have a new camera and a new flash. It was totally awesome. He was even able to explain to me some of those high falutin terms that people keep throwing around that I had no idea about and no time to look up in the barrage of new information.
The evening of the first day we got our first batch of teaching. Morning of the second day was more teaching, then our class shot all afternoon on campus and all evening in Victoria with models. (Not enough models, but thankfully I had a sharp eye and got them often enough to feel almost satisfied.) I have stunning photos from yesterday that I am in love with. And they're just fresh of the presses with me barely understanding the concepts we've learned and having to work for it. I'm planning on shooting every possible moment when I get back to Saskatoon, developing a new portfolio with the unique look I want to refine for portraiture. It will be a lot softer then most of what I've taken here, but I have a vision for it and that's what counts.

My roomate in Strathcona (the dorm I'm staying in) is a pleasant and bubbly girl and we really enjoy each other. Couldn't have asked for a better roomie here.
In short, everything is awesome, I am excited beyond measure, there is a barbecue cooking for supper tonight, and I now have to go to a vendor expo without spending any money. Torture.
But I have grand plans for the future. I really need a Mac system, I'm going to try and buy a Mac mini within a year. I have fallen in love with the fun of LensBabies and would rather have one of those than a Holga by far. I played with a little fisheye lens from a friend and realized that if I don't buy a fisheye or a wide angle soon I will hate myself because I have been in love with them since my film days and they totally go with the whimsical vision I have for my future photography. Also, I really need a standard Nikon 35mm for portraits, I miss that from my film days. Sometime soon I need a Drobo (fancy multi-hard-drive backup device). So that's my wishlist for oh, the next two years or so. Here's hoping that works out well for me.
I am loving this, and hope to bring the photography experience into Victoria with me.

Seriously. I just feel so out of the loop. I haven't read the HP books and I stopped after the 3rd movie, I think. But I know SO MANY PEOPLE who are going to midnight shows or will have their Hump Day be all about Harry Potter. And while I don't like to listen to "DG" on the album, the song grew on me after I heard & saw it live, and I never HATED it. Maybe it was having the visuals to concentrate on, although I think A7X is a live band and that a LOT gets taken away from their music when they are on album. They are just SO much better and more enjoyable for me when I am at a show. I think they sound way way better than they ever could on record. The fact I got to liking "Dear God" which I always skipped on the album speaks volumes to me about their live performance but what do I know?
Has that ever happened to you? You don't really like something/think you HATE it at first, but after a while, it grows on you and you end up liking it? Cuz that ends up happening to me a LOT. Sometimes it's due to a change in circumstances like with "DG," going from album to live, but most of the time, it's just time.
